The Enabling Technologies NTNU Biotechnology, NTNU Digital and NTNU Nano are an input in the development of new products and new industries. The development of the enabling technologies contribute to new solutions that may be employed in most areas of society, such as food production, energy efficiency, transport and better health services.

NTNU Biotechnology encompasses all activities where the use of science and technology to living organisms – and parts, products and models thereof – will change living or non-living materials for the production of knowledge, goods and services.

The most efficient way to develop new pioneering biotechnology, is through tight coupling of the life sciences, mathematical sciences and engineering sciences. Six faculties participate in the programme.

NTNU Digital covers the complete range of research and education in information and communication technologies.

The focus is to strengthen our core ICT research so it is applicable across disciplines and applications.

This means supporting research that can be vital for future applications, as well as for emerging and potentially disruptive ICT technologies.

Research at the nanolevel is by virtue most often cross disciplinary, and NTNU Nano seeks to assist the initiation of cross disciplinary projects and proposals.

Our cleanroom NTNU NanoLab is part of the initiative NTNU Nano, and the leader of the national NorFab, Norwegian Micro- and Nanofabrication Facility.
